My basement window in Vaughan leaks a bit when it rains hard. Are window wells a decent way to stop that, or am I better off with something else?

Leaky windows during rain can be annoying, and window wells might help by keeping water and junk away. They’re not a cure-all, but they’re simple enough. I found https://leaquida.ca/vaughan/window-well/ which talks about how they work in Vaughan. Seems like a fair option—anyone tried it around here?
